  •  Hero MotoCorp Registers 13 Per Cent Growth in June 2018

Hero MotoCorp sold 704,562 two-wheeler units in the month of June 2018, which is a 13 per cent growth over the 624,185 units sold in June 2017. Not only that, the company also created a record by selling 2.1 million two-wheelers in the quarter of April-June 2018. It sold 2,104,949 units during these three months creating a new world record. The previous record was also set by Hero MotoCorp when the company crossed the two million mark for the first time for the quarter of July-September 2017 when it sold 2,022,805 units. Till now, Hero is the only two-wheeler company in the world, which has crossed the 2 million unit sales mark in a quarter on two separate occasions.

Also, it has crossed the 7 lakh monthly sales record on three occasions previously in April 2018 when it sold 706,365 units, March 2018 when it sold 730,473 units and finally September 2017 when it sold 720,739 units. This was the fourth instance of the company crossing the 7 lakh monthly sales mark.

Hero believes that there will be a positive consumption pattern for two-wheelers over the next few months as Monsoon has already set in in some parts of the country. Hero says that it is ready with a new array of products which include a premium motorcycle and a new scooter range which will further offer new buying options to two-wheeler customers in India.

Additionally, Hero has increased the prices of its products by up to ₹ 500 on its entire product portfolio as the input costs are increasing along with the increase in the prices of commodities and also the depreciation of currency. The prices will be affected at the ex-showroom level.

  •  Suzuki Two-Wheeler Sales Register 39 Per Cent Growth In June 2018

Suzuki Motorcycle India continues to maintain its growth momentum for July this year and registered a 39 per cent hike in volumes for the previous month. The Japanese two-wheeler giant sold 46,717 units in July 2018, as opposed to 33,573 units during the same month last year. The first quarter of the 2018-19 financial year (April-June) has started on a positive note for the manufacturer with a domestic market growth of 40 per cent. Suzuki Motorcycle India aims to sell over seven lakh units by the end of this fiscal, a healthy jump when compared to the five lakh units that were sold during the FY2017-18 financial year.

Suzuki Motorcycle India's overall sales for July 2018 stood at 52,559 units (Domestic+Exports), registering a growth of 36.7 per cent over July 2017. At the end of this fiscal's first quarter, the bike maker sold 170,103 units, recording a 34.6 per cent year-on-year growth. The previous month also saw Suzuki introduce two updated products in the market including the Gixxer motorcycle with ABS and the Suzuki Access 125 Special Edition. The 125 cc scooter was also upgraded with Combined Braking System (CBS) as standard across all versions.
Speaking about the strong sales growth, Suzuki Motorcycle India - EVP, Sajeev Rajasekharan said, "For us to achieve our target of 7 lakh unit sales during this financial year, it was very important for us to have a strong-first quarter. Now, we would aim to build on this strong-foundation. In the month of June, we introduced the Access 125 in a CBS variant and added a special edition to the series, further strengthening the value proposition that it already offers as a segment-leader. With positive customer sentiments, and exciting-new launches still in the pipeline, we look forward to marching towards the company's goal."
The Suzuki Access 125 and the Gixxer series remain strong sellers for the manufacturer, followed by the recently launched Intruder 155 cruiser. The bike maker though, is now gearing up to introduce its next offering in the 125 cc scooter segment. The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2018 and will go on sale later this month. Dealerships across the country are already accepting bookings for the new maxi-scooter since last month.

  • Two-Wheeler Sales June 2018 Honda Records 28 Per Cent Growth

Like all other two-wheeler manufacturers, Honda Motorcycle And Scooter India too registered a growth to the tune of 28 per cent in its two-wheeler sales for the month of June 2018. The company sold a total of 5, 71,020 (Exports+domestic) units in June 2018 as compared to 4, 44,528 units sold in June 2017. The company also gained 1.4 per cent market share in the month of June 2018. Domestically, the company sold 5, 35,494 units in June 2018 in comparison to 4, 16, 365 units sold in June 2017. The growth registered was 29 per cent.
HMSI sold 361,236 scooters in June 2018 which is a growth of 33 per cent over the sales of June 2017 standing at 2, 71,007 units. Similarly, HMSI sold a total of 1, 74,258 motorcycles in June 2018 which is a growth of 20 per cent over the 145,358 units sold in June 2017.
Talking about the quarterly figures, Honda Motorcycle And Scooter India sold 18, 04,537 units during April-June 2018 as opposed to 15, 60,340 units, registering a growth of 16 per cent. Total motorcycle sales grew by 15 per cent to 6, 27,908 units in April-June 2018 from 5, 44,715 units in the same period last year. Automatic scooter sales clocked 11, 76,629 units between April-June 2018 with 16 per cent growth, up from 10, 15,625 units in April-June 2017.
The company also saw a good growth of 39 per cent in exports with 1,14,132 units exported in the quarter of April-June 2018 as compared to 81,862 units during the same time last year.
Speaking on Honda's performance in the month of June, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, "Adding over 2.4 lac additional customers, Honda's power packed performance in June 2018 is testament of the positive sentiment in buyer's mind-set. Backed by a strong double digit growth in both motorcycle and scooter Honda, led by Activa, registered a growth of 16 per cent in first quarter of FY 2018-19.
